Brad Hand traded to Indians

MLB trade season is officially underway, with two all-stars being dealt in the past 3 days. First it was superstar Manny Machado, who was traded to the Dodgers, and now former San Diego Padre reliever Brad Hand is on the move. Hand and fellow reliever Adam Cimber will be traded to the Cleveland Indians in exchange for top catching prospect Francisco Mejia, according to Ken Rosenthal. In 44.1 innings pitched, Hand sports a 3.05 ERA and also has 24 saves. He and Cimber look to improve a Cleveland bullpen in which has underperformed this year, after names like Bryan Shaw left in free agency. Cleveland currently sits at 52-43, 1st in the AL Central and is a virtual lock to win the division, barring a major hot streak from Minnesota or a slump. The Indians called up Mejia a couple of days ago, and he was ranked 1st in the Indians farm system and 1st among all catchers, as well as the 15th ranked prospect overall. Mejia is now involved into what seems like an endless rebuild for the Padres, and he should look to battle with Austin Hedges for the starting spot in the near future. This is a risky move, as losing Mejia could be crucial. But the Indians are in a win-now mode, and are going all in to seek their first championship since 1948.
