The Phoenix Suns have made an array of moves to free up cap space and acquire some young talent. Below is a 3-team trade breakdown:
Suns receive: Richaun Holmes, Darrell Arthur
Nets receive: Jared Dudley, 2021 2nd round pick
76ers receive: $1 million
Two of these players are likely heading for buyouts in Arthur and Dudley, and will looking to join contenders. Dudley should be given a look, as his leadership and ability to work with younger players is well-known, as well as being a hustle player who can hit some threes. Philadelphia is unloading all of their younger players who do not see much rotation time; Holmes is the third player traded by them in less than 24 hours. The 76ers seem to be gearing up for another free agency run within the next couple of years, or maybe are looking to pull off a trade. As for rim-protecting Holmes, he should be a good fit in Phoenix, a team that ranked dead last in defense last year. The Nets obtain a pick, and are slowly regaining more picks that they lost in the disastrous trade with the Celtics. These deals are practically salary dumps, and only one of these players will likely see playing time with their new team once the season starts.
